First Aid Appointed Persons Course
Course Aim :
The Health and Safety Regulations (First Aid) 1981 and Approved
Code of Practice and Guidance obligate employers to ensure that
their workforce have adequate first aid provision while at work.
This course is ideal for smaller workplaces
that present few health and safety risks where a nominated person
is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident.
Fully qualified First Aiders in larger organisations can also benefit
from additional support from Appointed Persons.
Who Should Attend :
A person who is the nominated person or who provides support to
qualified First Aiders
Content of Course :
The course is predominantly practical based.
- First aid scope and aims and protocols
- Analysis of 'approach to an incident'
- Treatment of the unconscious casualty, with demonstration /
class practice of recovery position
- Asphyxia (choking, smoke inhalation, etc.) with demonstration
of treatment for choking
- Practical demonstration of resuscitation and class practice
of C.P.R
- Control of bleeding, recognition and treatment of shock with
class practice
- Accident book and contents of a first aid box
- Review and feedback session
Assessment :
Continuous assessment by trainer
Certificate :
A certificate valid for 3 years is issued on successful completion
of assessment
Duration of Course :
This course must contain a minimum of 6 hours of tuition. This does
not include time allocated for breaks, which is left to the discretion
of the client.
