Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessors Course
Course Aim :
The Health & Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
(Amended 2002) require employers to assess the use of all DSE workstations
used in the workplace to ensure that they meet minimum requirements,
and to ensure that any health and safety risks through the use of
DSE workstations are minimised, so far as is reasonably practicable.
This course provides candidates with :-
- Information on the legislative requirements, supporting guidelines
and best practice
- Understanding of hazards and means of assessing risks to DSE
users
- Knowledge and practical skills to conduct DSE assessments in
their workplace
Who Should Attend :
This course is designed for those who are, or could be, involved
in assessing the DSE workstations. This includes line managers and
supervisors, health & safety representatives and those responsible
for IT and purchasing equipment.

- Health & Safety Law
- An introduction to The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment)
Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002)
- Visual risks – causes and solutions
- Musculoskeletal risks – causes and solutions
- Environmental risks – causes and solutions
- DSE workstation assessment methodology
- Practical DSE workstation exercise
Objectives :
After completing the course, participants will be able to: -
- Identify the causes of physical office problems and the risks
with poor posture
- Recommend appropriate modifications to improve the working environment
- Understand and relate to the appropriate health and safety legislation
and its significance
- Undertake DSE workstation assessments and complete checklists
efficiently
Assessment :
Continuous assessment by trainer, plus a short test at the end of
the course.
Certificate :
Successful participants will receive a certificate issued by Complete
Health & Safety Ltd.
Duration of Course :
The course is designed to be delivered in 3 hours.
