CIEH Risk Assessment Training - Principles & Practice Course

Course Aim :
The overall aim is for candidates to acquire knowledge and practical skills to improve their competency in carrying out general risk assessments under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Courses will be held in Sussex, or upon arrangement at a venue of your choice in London, Surrey, or Kent.

Who Should Attend :
The training course is designed for anyone with a responsibility to conduct a risk assessment. It is particularly useful for managers and supervisors but it will be equally beneficial to individual workers, team leaders, technicians, engineers or any other personnel contributing to the risk assessment process.

Candidates should have a basic knowledge of general Health and Safety matters prior to taking the course.

  • The Basic Principles of Risk Assessment
  • Legislation and Regulations
  • Risk Assessment in Practice
  • Conducting, Recording and Monitoring Risk Assessments
  • Summary and Assignment

Objectives :
Successful completion of the training programme, assignment and self-evaluation will enable candidates to: -

  • Contribute to the risk assessment programme at their workplaces.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Organise and implement a risk assessment programme where this has not already been started.
  • Participate in the identification of specific training needs for the activities being assessed.
  • Assist employers in meeting legal requirements and promote improved standards of health and safety within their organisation.

Examination Information :
Following the course, candidates are required to undertake an assignment consisting of a risk assessment of a designated workplace. It is expected that this will take between 3 - 6 hours and should be completed within four weeks of the course. Candidates are required to complete the course, assignment and self evaluation achieving 60% or more in order to receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Risk Assessment Certificate
