Scaffold Inspection Course

Course Aim

The course aims to provide candidates with practical and theoretical training to enable candidates to demonstrate a minimum level of competence as required by health & safety regulations.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for all persons who, having received a formal handover from a scaffold company, are charged with the task of inspecting tube and coupler or system based scaffolds.

Content of Course

The class room element of the course covers:-

  • relevant legislative requirements and the guidelines set by British and European standards on the matter of temporary structures of this kind.
  • the various components and elements that go to make up a scaffold
  • The techniques involved and specific points to look for when inspecting a scaffold, especially when it is being erected.
  • the conditions that apply and the frequency with which the scaffold should be inspected.
  • Management of access, stairs or ladders in the context of regular inspections

There should be a scaffold structure in reasonable proximity for the candidates to inspect and comment upon. If the latter is not possible arrangements may be made to supply a location with a scaffold nearby.

Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates should have the necessary knowledge to critically inspect a scaffold structure, and have the confidence to discuss any concerns with scaffolders who supply and erect it.

Examination Information

A short multiple-choice test concludes the course. Successful candidates receive a certificate of competence.

Duration of Course

The course lasts approximately 4 hours and is normally run at a location of your choice. There is a requirement for a room of sufficient size to show a PowerPoint display and  comfortably seat the number of candidates attending
