Fire Risk Assessment

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 employers are legally obliged to undertake a fire risk assessment in their premises.

A fire risk assessment helps you identify all the fire hazards and risks in your premises and decide on suitable precautions for controlling the risks. As well as looking at the fire risks the process will look at the adequacy of your fire precautions and evacuation procedures.

Who should do the risk assessment? A competent person ie someone who has had sufficient training and experience and knowledge of fire safety engineering. Ideally the assessment should be undertaken by someone with recognised fire safety qualifications.
