Fire Safety & Fire Extinguisher Training

Course Aim

The course provides candidates with knowledge about fire chemistry, basic fire safety and fire extinguishing methods, and includes practical experience of putting out fires using three different types of fire extinguishing mediums. The course will also include a discussion on the client's fire and contingency plans.

Who Should Attend

The course is suitable for managers, fire marshals, employees and self-employed people.

The course covers the following:-

  • Fire legislation - Fire Safety (Regulatory Reform) Order 2005
  • Principles of fire chemistry
  • Explanation about the different types of fire fighting medium
  • Methods of extinguishing fires
  • Fire action plans
  • Discussion about fire and contingency plans applicable to client’s premises
  • Practical extinguisher training – putting out fires using :-
    – Water extinguishers
    – CO2 extinguishers
    – Fire blankets
  • Optional test of clients fire alarm system

Note – The trainer provides the extinguishers for the practical session. However, if required, the training session can make use of extinguishers at the client’s premises

Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates will understand how fires can start and how they can be extinguished, and will have received practical training on the use extinguishers and fire blankets.

Certificates

A certificate of competence is provided for all candidates that attend the course.
