SPA Safety Passport – Core Day Training

Course Aim

The safety passport is a nationally recognised and industry led scheme, designed to provide Contractors with general health and safety awareness to enable them to work safely on site.
The core day course is a general one day course aimed at all types of operatives. To supplement the core day course an industry specific one day courses is also available – please refer to separate course overview relevant to your industry.

Who Should Attend

The course is designed for Clients, Contractors and other Companies who need to demonstrate that they have the required competence for working on a Client’s site.

Content of Course

  • Module 1 - Organising for Safety
    H&S Law; H&S Responsibilities; Risk Assessments; Safety Representatives; Safety Inspectors
  • Module 2 – The Workplace
    Safe places of Work; Safe Access & Egress; Safety Signs; Temperature; Housekeeping; Welfare facilities; Slips, Trips & Falls; Display Screen Equipment; Working at Height
  • Module 3 – Plant and Machinery
    Hand held tools: Machinery; Electricity; Noise; Workplace Transport
  • Module 4 - Health
    Hygiene; PPE; Harmful Substances; Manual handling; Musculoskeletal Disorders; Health Surveillance; Stress
  • Module 5 - Procedures
    Safe Systems of Work; Emergency Procedures; Fire Safety; First Aid; Reporting Accidents & Incidents
  • Module 6 – The Environment
    Key legislation; Enforcement Agencies; Employer & Employee Responsibilities; Environmental Concerns, Causes and Prevention of Pollution; Emergency Planning; Waste Management; Waste Minimization & Segregation

Objectives

By the end of the programme, the candidate will be able to: -

  • Have a basic knowledge of health and safety
  • Be able to work in a safe and healthy manner and contribute to improving health and safety on site
  • Identify key hazards in their own workplace
  • Understand the importance of health and safety rules and working procedures
  • Report potential health and safety problems

Candidates will be issued with a safety photocard passport (valid for three years) as proof that they have received training.

Duration of Course
This is a one-day course with a minimum of 6 hours tutor contact time.

Courses are held in Sussex but can also be held at a venue of your choice in Surrey, London and Kent
